Depending on the web browser currently installed on your computer (Internet
Exporer, Firefox, etc. ), most users printing a document off the web find there
is additional information printed on the page as a "header" and "footer". This
information ususally contains the page name, page number, url, date the page was
printed, and the website address. All this is nice information to have but if
you plan on recording a legal document such as a Claim of Lien or a Satisfaction
of Claim of Claim of Lien at the county clerk's office, the header and footer
interfere with the format of your document. Florida Statutes* currently require
that a recordable document have a blank three inch (3") area for recording
information at the top right of the document.
Turning this infomation off is done through the "page Setup" option of your web
browser. Although there are many web browsers and versions, most have similar
settings. In this example using Internet Explorer 7, go to your print menu and
drop down the box for print settings:
Select Page Setup...
and then remove any text in the box for Header and Footer. Press "OK" and your
setting have been changed. Next time you pring out pages from the internet, the
header and footer will no longer appear on the page and you have a clean
recordable document.
